Coolsculpting is an effective fat reduction treatment that allows us to offer a solution to patients with stubborn fat deposits. These are fat deposits that usually don’t respond to diet and exercise. They often occur on the hips, stomach, buttocks and thighs, but they can also occur on the upper arms, neck and chin.

Liposuction is not an option for many patients. Coolsculpting offers an excellent, almost painless alternative with few side effects.

How does Coolsculpting work?

The unwanted fat deposit is “sucked in” by an appropriately sized applicator, creating a vacuum. The suctioned skin with the subcutaneous fat is then cooled down to 4 degrees for 1 hour, or in the case of “saddlebag”- type thighs, for 2 hours. The skin is protected by a gel layer so there is no risk of frostbite.

What can you expect from this method of fat reduction?

You can expect a 20-40% reduction in fat deposits per treatment. Coolsculpting has been tested on patients in numerous studies. There is no doubt about its effectiveness. Skin samples taken from patients before and after treatment have confirmed that Coolsculpting results in fat reduction. The reduction in fat cells is clear and can be scientifically proven.

Which body areas are suitable for Coolsculpting?

The system works extremely well in the abdominal area. However, it is also often used to treat “saddlebags”, inner thighs, upper arms and “love handles”.

Fat dissolving injections

Aqualyx is the fat dissolving injection we currently use at our practice. This treatment is a great, safe alternative to liposuction for reducing fat deposits in smaller areas.

Aqualyx is an ampoule containing deoxycholanic acid. This is a bile acid that breaks down fat cells. The body then breaks down the cell remnants. Aqualyx is applied by inserting thin cannulas directly under the skin into the fat deposits to be treated.

Redness and swelling may occur immediately after the treatment, but this should only last a few hours. The treatment must be repeated several times to achieve a good result.
